They blend in with humans, hunt them, and eat their flesh. Humans live in this "wrong world" in fear of the "ghouls" who reign at the top of the food chain.
Kaneki, a college student who loves to read, meets a girl named Rize at his favorite coffee shop, Anteiku. They are the same age, have the same circumstances, and share the same interest in reading, so the two quickly become close, but...
I'm not the protagonist of a novel or anything... but... if I were to write a story with me as the main character, it would surely be a tragedy.Ghouls attack humans using predatory organs called kagune, and are feared as monsters because of their lethality, but the only way they can survive is by eating humans.
Kaneki is filled with doubts and conflict about this distorted world, and becomes caught up in an inescapable cycle of negativity.
