Haikyu!!, a sports manga by Haruichi Furudate, first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2012 and gained popularity for its passionate coming-of-age drama of high school students devoted to volleyball. The eight-and-a-half-year serialization concluded in July 2020, with the total circulation of all 45 volumes of the manga exceeding 70 million copies. A television anime adaptation began airing on the Mainichi Broadcasting System and TBS networks in 2014, with the fourth season having been produced by December 2020.
Then in February 2024, "Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump" was released, becoming a huge hit, grossing over 20 billion yen at the box office worldwide and over 11.5 billion yen at the domestic box office.
